2D Velocity and Force fields

The following simulation demonstrates properties of vector fields in two dimensions. It displays the potential surface (with particles following the field vectors), curl, and divergence, and can also demonstrate Green's theorem and the divergence theorem.

Things to try:

• Select one of many vector fields from the Setup menu in the upper right.
• Click and drag with the mouse to rotate the view.
• Some of the field selections have parameters which may be adjusted.
• Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select "user-defined field" or "user-defined potential" to input your own vector field.
