The following simulation demonstrates various properties of vector fields in three dimensions. You can see how particles move if the vector field is treated as either a velocity or a force field.
The menu in the upper right has a variety of different fields to choose from. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select "user-defined field" or "user-defined potential" to input your own vector field.
